CHA Urges Congress to Support Children's Hospitals Ability to Provide Care to All Children

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On behalf of over 200 children’s hospitals, Children’s Hospital Association (CHA) outlined four urgent actions Congress must take to support the immediate needs of our nation’s children by: 

• Bolstering support for the pediatric workforce.
• Making investments to address the children’s mental health emergency.
• Preventing Medicaid Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) cuts.  
• Passing the bipartisan Accelerating Kids’ Access to Care Act. 

At a time when our children’s hospitals continue to be flooded with children dealing with mental health crises and are preparing for another season of respiratory illnesses and other health care needs, it is critical that Congress act before the end of the year to sustain children’s hospitals’ ability to provide high-quality, timely and appropriate care to our nation’s children. 

“The health of our nation’s children is a shared priority for Congress and children’s hospitals and health systems. CHA is ready to work with Congress to ensure these sensible, bipartisan and life-saving policies are put into place before the end of the year,” said CHA CEO Mark Wietecha.  

CHA stands ready to partner with them to take the steps necessary to promote children’s health and to enact policy changes to address the pediatric workforce shortage, national children’s mental health emergency, stop Medicaid DSH cuts and eliminate administrative burden in Medicaid.
