AHA Receives $1.5 Million CDC Grant to Build Vaccine Confidence, Partner with Children's Hospital Association

WASHINGTON, DC – The American Hospital Association (AHA) announced today that the organization received $1.5 million in grant funding from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to support COVID-19 vaccine confidence efforts through September 2023. The AHA will work directly with the Children’s Hospital Association on pediatric vaccination as part of the year three grant. 

The AHA previously received two grants totaling $3 million with a grant period ending last month. Since February 2021, the AHA has led a comprehensive vaccine education program to support the hospital field, clinicians and members of the public. Specifically, the AHA has:

• Run public service announcements, newspaper advertisements and radio spots encouraging vaccination in all 50 states, in both English and Spanish;
• Released educational videos and podcasts focused on child vaccination, vaccination during pregnancy and other topics;
• Produced the first-ever playbook on COVID strategies for rural health care leaders; 
• Convened hospital and health systems leaders through virtual, in-person and Facebook Live events; and
• Published more than 100 case studies on vaccine successes.  

Funding began September 30, 2022 and continues through September 29, 2023.

These grants were funded in part by a cooperative agreement with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (grant number CK20-2003).
