Factors Associated with Early Pediatric ICU Transfer in Children with Medical Complexity and Septic Shock

In children with medical complexity (CMC) treated for septic shock in the pediatric emergency department, early ICU transfer was significantly associated with bundle non-compliance and higher mortality. Improvement efforts will focus on identifying barriers to timely fluid and antibiotic delivery to reduce ICU transfers and mortality.
