For FY 2024, we are requesting $738 million for the Children's Hospitals Graduate Medical Education (CHGME) program to help fully fund the program and allow children’s hospitals to train pediatricians and pediatric specialists. We should ask for what we need to serve our pediatric patients now and into the future, especially as pediatric workforce shortages persist with the impacts of the RSV crisis, COVID-19 and the ongoing children’s mental health crisis.
Currently funded CHGME training programs only receive half of the federal funding compared to adult-focused training programs. For more information, please download the following resources.
