The ramifications of the cyberattack and shutdown of Change Healthcare services have directly affected pediatricians and children's hospitals. Pediatric providers have been obligated to invest substantial resources in finding and implementing workarounds to these significant obstacles, where they can.

Because of the typical lag in claims processing and payments, Children's Hospital Association (CHA) is still gaining a fuller understanding of the ways the system disruption is impacting pediatric providers and expects more impacts to come to light in the coming weeks.

CHA expressed appreciation for the rapid response the Department of Health and Human Services and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services have provided to support Medicaid providers, and for the secretary’s continued requests of health insurance carriers to meet the demands of this crisis. CHA asked for ongoing financial and administrative support for pediatric practices and children’s hospitals so care for children is not disrupted.
